Farm Dog Pottery

Newbury, Ohio

Farm Dog Pottery is the ceramic practice of artisan Trevor Lewandowski, based in Northeast Ohio. Trevor works from a studio on his family’s farm, which has been in the family for eight generations, and also maintains studio space at Big Creek Clay. This connection to place, continuity, and everyday working life provides a natural foundation for pottery made to be used, handled, and lived with.

Drawing upon traditional pottery techniques, Trevor creates functional ceramics distinguished by simple forms, expressive glazes, and the individual character of objects shaped by hand. He approaches clay with a relaxed, intuitive sensibility, embracing the subtle variations that emerge through forming, glazing, and firing rather than pursuing mechanical uniformity. Differences in surface, color, and form become part of each piece’s identity and evidence of the process by which it was made.

Trevor’s mugs, bowls, vessels, serving pieces, and other household wares are intended to be used as well as appreciated. Inspired by the familiar rituals of everyday life, his pottery brings warmth, beauty, and a tactile human presence to experiences such as morning coffee, preparing food, sharing a meal, or gathering around a table. His work reflects a belief that useful objects can enrich daily life through thoughtful form, pleasing proportion, and the unmistakable presence of the maker’s hand.

Trevor exhibits his work regularly throughout Ohio. The studio takes its name from his Mastiff, Boss, whose companionship and quiet supervision are a familiar part of Trevor’s life and work on the family farm.
